(1st place contest winner) A photo taken by Nava Thompson of a two orange Tiger Lilies in a beautiful garden in Monee, Illinois. This was made in June.................................. Lilies are tall perennials ranging in height from 26 ft (60180 cm). They form naked or tunicless scaly underground bulbs which are their overwintering organs. In some North American species the base of the bulb develops into rhizomes, on which numerous small bulbs are found. Some species develop stolons. Most bulbs are deeply buried, but a few species form bulbs near the soil surface. Many species form stem-roots. With these, the bulb grows naturally at some depth in the soil, and each year the new stem puts out adventitious roots above the bulb as it emerges from the soil. These roots are in addition to the basal roots that develop at the base of the bulb.............................The flowers are large, often fragrant, and come in a range of colours including whites, yellows, oranges, pinks, r...
My story-- There's so much color, variety and fun in exploring nature and wildlife. The 'magic' of those moments have been captured and presented here for you to share and enjoy. I am more aware of God's paintbrush as I work with close up shots of birds in action and butterflies on flowers in the morning sun. Deer and Elk are outstandingly photogenic! They appear to have been outlined with a magic marker. Amazing -- isn't it? My dream is to continue to explore---chasing the rainbows and sunsets while searching for something new and exciting. Enjoy my gallery, Thank you!
