Description
(Sold print)Once upon a time--Nava Thompson picked up a paint brush--for the last time and painted baby Jesus with a little lamb. The painting was taken from a Christmas card given to her when she was six years old. It was the only one that was kept through the many years of moving here and there--- and often. As the story goes--the card was sent from a lady that lived across the street from a certain school. The most unlikely school for her granddaughter to attend -- after the painting was given to her on her first birthday. So--it seems to the artist that sometimes the smallest of things may have a very important meaning. Christmas --

Significance Traditional birthday of Jesus Date December 25 Observances Church services, gift giving, family and other social gatherings, symbolic decorating Related to Christmastide, Christmas Eve, Advent, Annunciation, Epiphany, Baptism of the Lord, Yule Christmas (Old English: Cresmsse, meaning "Christ's Mass") is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by billions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it closes the Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide. Christmas is a civil holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebrated by an increasing number of non-Christians, and is an integral part of the Christmas and holiday season. The precise year of Jesus' birth, which some historians place between 7 and 2 BC, is unknown. By the early-to-mid 4th century, the Western Christian Church had placed Christmas on December 25,a date later adopted in the East. The date of Christmas may have initially been chosen to correspond with the day exactly nine months after early Christians believed Jesus to have been conceived, as well as the date of the southern solstice (i.e., the Roman winter solstice), with a sun connection being possible because Christians consider Jesus to be the "Sun of righteousness" prophesied in Malachi 4:2
