A photo made by Nava Thompson of a yellow Swallowtail Butterfly fluttering around pink Azalias. This is a close-up shot of the wings and flowers. Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) is a species of swallowtail butterfly native to North America. It is one of the most familiar butterflies in the eastern United States,[2] where it is common in many different habitats. It flies from spring to fall, during which it produces two to three broods. Adults feed on the nectar of many species of flowers, mostly from those of the Apocynaceae, Asteraceae, and Fabaceae families. P. glaucus has a wingspan measuring 7.9 to 14 centimeters (3 to 5.5 in). The male is yellow with four black "tiger stripes" on each fore wing. Females may be either yellow or black, making them dimorphic. The yellow morph is similar to the male, but with a conspicuous band of blue spots along the hindwind, while the dark morph is almost completely black.......The green eggs are laid singly on plants of the Magnolia...
My story-- There's so much color, variety and fun in exploring nature and wildlife. The 'magic' of those moments have been captured and presented here for you to share and enjoy. I am more aware of God's paintbrush as I work with close up shots of birds in action and butterflies on flowers in the morning sun. Deer and Elk are outstandingly photogenic! They appear to have been outlined with a magic marker. Amazing -- isn't it? My dream is to continue to explore---chasing the rainbows and sunsets while searching for something new and exciting. Enjoy my gallery, Thank you!

Awesome color and lighting Nava Jo!! —Such fine detail! I can never sneak up this close on butterflies, they always fly away! Truly exquisite work! L/V&V …Bee allergy. That explains why you don't photograph bees on your flowers.
Nava Thompson replied:
Doug---thank you for your visit --- and comments. Some butterflies settle down more than others. I have a few bee shots---but not my favorite thing to do. :)
